Workshop Green Digital Design

How can modern RE of digital products contribute to more sustainability?

Workshop

Green Digital Design

As digital designers and requirements engineers, we create digital products. In this role, we are not only responsible for designing the functionality and quality of our products, but also for the impact that the products have in the world.  In addition to the planned and expected positive effects that our products have for users and customers, we must also consider the side effects that often occur unintentionally, unplanned and unforeseen. We see it as our duty to develop sustainable digital products, and to achieve this we need to extend our perspective in requirements engineering.

Informations
  • > Date: two half-day workshops in the morning and afternoon
  • > Participants: 5 up to 15 persons,
participants are invited to give a short keynote speech
  • > Format: keynote presentations, discussions, publication of a position paper afterwards
  • > Target audience: requirement engineers from academia and industry who are interested in this topic and people who already have experience in the field of RE or sustainability.

Goal

In this workshop, we will address the central question of how modern requirements engineering can contribute to more sustainability. We will create space for an exchange on this topic in order to share the experiences, insights and ideas of participants from industry and academia.

A position paper published after the workshop will summarize the presentations and discussions. It will also reflect the views of the participants on which topics in the field of sustainable design require further research or practical trials.

Invitation

You are welcome to give a short keynote presentation (15-20 minutes) on your research topic or your experience in the field of sustainable requirements engineering. Please contact the organizers at MaibornWolff in advance to coordinate the schedule.

Workshop Format

After the short keynote speeches on the sustainability of digital design, we will create a structured, creative workspace for dialog. We will use different workshop formats to unleash the creativity of the participants. We will work in small groups and regularly present and discuss our results and ideas.
